This is your first Shaolin Kids newsletter from Shifu and Shaolin Institute. It will
be coming to you monthly by E-mail and I invite you to be a part of it. Use it to
creatively express yourself!
“How”, you might ask? It’s simple. E-mail me scanned copies of pictures you’ve
drawn, painted, or colored and short things that you’ve written (poems, words of
wisdom, insights about martial arts, etc.). As much as possible, I will use your
pictures and include what you write in the monthly newsletter so that “Shaolin
Kids Dragon Tales” is your voice.
In addition, Shifu would like you to get permission from your parent(s) to prepare
an Asian dish to be shared at the New Year’s Festival celebration on Saturday,
February 9th at the school. He asks that you keep it simple and inexpensive, ask
you parents to help you choose a recipe (preferably Asian) that you can prepare
easily, and that you proudly bring it to share at the Festival. Like everything
you do, make it yours; make it special. Most important, he wants you to have
fun doing it!
Please make your Shaolin newsletter and your Chinese New Year’s festival
a success, by getting actively involved, sharing your voice, and actively
contributing when asked. This month you can contribute greatly by preparing a
special dish to pass at the Chinese New Year’s festival.
On behalf of Shifu, I sincerely thank you for being an important part of our
Shaolin family. Best Wishes to you!
