Shaolin Legacy Show At Global Winter Wonderland: “One Breath”

Shaolin Institute presents a special theme show at Global Winter Wonderland: “One Breath” at Turner Field, in Atlanta, GA on December 6th and December 26th night.  The show depicts the process of life qi (chi) from formless transforming into forms, from invisible to visible, from nameless to names, representing life Qi in connection and communication between the Supreme Qi of the Universe and life qi within us.

This special theme: “One Breath” depicts the process of life qi (chi) from formless transforming into forms, from invisible to visible, from nameless to names, representing life Qi in connection and communication between the Supreme Qi of the Universe and life qi within us.

The story provides a stream of consciousness of how we can empower ourselves by reconnecting with the Universe Qi, and how we let the universe supreme qi penetrate and permeate back to us to unveil the wisdom within us.

This is also a show of character and leadership education, which gives a picture story of how the Kung Fu students learn and absorb nature qi from the universe to strengthen each of us to meet unexpected life obstacles and deal with the challenges with extraordinary self-control, discipline, compassion and integrity in Shaolin tradition in a fun way.

As a Shaolin student, one must learn to lead, dealing with life challenges and vicissitudes at any moment with all costs in life with greater control of the mind and the body. That is the path to see light and success in life.

“Life represents the Qi of the universe”, says Grand Master Shi Deru, “let’s free ourselves, flowing with Qi of the universe and grand cosmic nature, and only by re-connecting with the nature power, can we find the best of ourselves in reality and learning the challenges in life to benefit us and empower us.”

The show also resembles common Qi-supreme energy in the culture of the east intermingling with that of the west.  The picture story portraits qi in action from Supreme formless Qi to Tai Chi motion, to Qi transformation, and it eventually becomes forms and gives birth to life.

The Show starts from Tai Gong Meditation with Qi gathering penetrating, which let free the mind and facilitates balance and Qi flow in each of us.  Shaolin Kung Fu techniques combined with rigorous Sanda training produces athletes with superior body mind awareness, extra senses, strength, speed, skills and agility,

 

About the Shaolin Legacy Team:

Shaolin Cultural Performance Team officially established under Grand Master Shawn Liu (aka: Shi DeRu) in 1996. The first Shaolin Legacy Full Show was presented at the UNO in New Orleans with over 2000 audiences. The team was combined with Liu’s American students and international guest masters and well-known performers. It has performed hundreds of shows national wide as part of the cultural promotion and understanding between the east and that of the west.  This is the longest only oriental Shaolin cultural performance team in the US.

It is culturally unique due to its 1500 years’ Shaolin Zen living philosophy and arts, especially martial arts embraced by hundreds of millions in the world.  Shaolin Kung Fu is the root of most martial arts practiced on the planet today.

The first performances were presented as early as 1988 at Mobile International Festival on the street of down town Mobile, AL with only two American Kung Fu kids on the team.

Since the beginning of cultural exchange and cultural ambassadors programs over 2 decades ago,  the institute has lead hundreds of American and other international students to have visited and performed in China for multicultural exchange programs not only learn the arts of Kungfu and Chan way of life but seeking cultural understanding between nations and cultural and ethnic background.

The last large group of American students and athletes went to China was in 2008. Over 20 Wushu athletes and Shaolin Kungfu performers, cultural ambassadors and supporters went to Hong Kong, participated “Greeting Olympics Games” a Hong Kong International Wushu Championship event.

They went on to mainland of China to have visited and performed for schools and universities and Wushu training centers. Their experience was documented by CCTV international networks.  YouTube “Journey to the East” is the summery of that American Shaolin journey.

A collaborative between the late Sheriff Harry Lee and Master Shi DeRu presented the first large scale of Shaolin Legacy cultural show in November 1996, which was endorsed by then governor of Louisiana and president of the united stated Bill Clinton.   That show staged some of the best local and international talents and cultural ambassadors, which was held at the University of New Orleans.  That event set the foot for cultural ambassadors program.

Since the inception of the Cultural Ambassador Program, the institute has had over hundred international masters, exchange instructors and students from China and many other countries come to the United States as many of the US citizens have visited and performed for them in China.  Over 2 decades forward, the institute continues to promote cultural exchange and education by launching many “Shaolin Legacy” Stage Cultural Shows with the latest: “Journey to the East” in 2006:  “A Special Shaolin Training Class” in 2010 and “Chan Wu-Qi” in 2011. The Shaolin Legacy shows have been presented to over a 300,000 audiences in the US in the past few years alone.

We have, since 1988 through Mobile International Festival on the street of Mobile, Mobile Gulf State Fair, Asian Pacific Heritage Festivals of New Orleans, Dragon Festivals of Atlanta by Hong Kong Association, Atlanta Hawks, Coke Cola, GE, many universities and schools’ international and Asian Festivals and other oriental cultural organizations events such as Asian Cultural Experience in Atlanta, presented Cultural presentations, exhibitions and seminars and shows to more a million of audiences among which students, youth and seniors alike applauded worldwide.

The shows captured not only the cultural understanding between the east and that of the west but the indomitable unique Shaolin spirit by giving insight into ancient ways of training, their daily lives and mental and physical discipline that requires high levels of mind-body control.  It highlighted life’s lessons of about ethics, integrity, character, self-discipline, self-control, compassion and respect for the world and the universe.

About Global Winter Wonderland

This is the largest such festival ever presented outside of China, the 2011 U.S. premiere of Global Winter Wonderland featured giant illuminated lanterns depicting creatures and scenes that included a Christmas holiday village, animals real and imagined, and people and scenes from around the world. Highlights included recreations of some of the world’s greatest architectural achievements, including the Taj Mahal, the Eiffel Tower, Chichen Itza, and the Golden Gate Bridge.

The eco-friendly lanterns, some of which towered more than 50 feet high and spanned nearly 100 feet wide, were illuminated with low voltage LED’s and fluorescent lights, with several structures powered by solar panels. The Atlanta Area’s new family event of the holiday season also features carnival games, international cuisine, arts and crafts, live entertainment, and celebrations of holiday traditions from around the world.
