We shall further discuss the key leadership traits required to run a business or lead a team.

The leadership character demonstrates one’s ability to listen and explore another person’s view without sticking to one’s winner seeking mentality.

We, as Kungfu SWAT/leadership team members must acquire the aptitude in synergy to communicate with efficiency and compassion to constantly reconnect our actions with our mission so as to empower and enlighten everyone around us.

We ask questions, when we listen with full attention, to explore and appreciate the other person, to break down any conflict, and open up to the issue at its core. By exploring, we further communicate from our hearts and minds and demonstrate that we care about the other person’s view and care about reaching a compatible solution. We convey our original intention with compassion. This is the characteristics of LEAP communication: listen, explore, appreciate and present.

Appreciation
After listening and questioning by exploring with full attention, we show our appreciation to tell the other person that his/her message is as important as ours. Showing appreciation for another person’s view is also sending a message of respect. When we appreciate the other person from his/her perspective, we are seeking a compatible solution that conveys a subtle acknowledgement of what has been said. This helps both sides to break down any barriers that might be present and paves the way for a harmonious and more desirable outcome. Once we are satisfied that we have asked enough questions to understand and appreciate the others’ points of view and then we can present our view with conviction and truth.

Present
After having been engaged in truthful listening, genuine exploration and empathetic appreciation we are poised to present our view with authentic, enlightening presence. Now we have earned the trust of the person we communicate with and we can obtain extraordinary results with Right Speech.

By the LEAP communication, we demonstrate genuine kindness and non-confrontational discussions or simple heart to heart tête-à-tête (dialogue). Our communication with compassion expresses the fact that we are speaking from the highest consciousness. When we examine the raw truth of our thoughts; we choose each word and sentence more precisely. Every word we use to express our feelings, thoughts and messages will ultimately affect the outcome of the situation. We shall immediately see and appreciate the different conditions we create with our speech. Observing this pattern helps us to streamline our visions with honest clarity, and communication becomes more effective. As we quarry into our wellspring of inner wisdom and compassion, our communication begins to change. Our words begin to ignite our actions that follow. By acknowledging that we’ve both heard and understood the other person’s point of view, synergy becomes possible and we become part of the solution.

Let’s exercise Mindful Awareness in LEAP communication. The following is leadership team’s home work you must send back to me before January. Please write a paragraph or an essay after reading the speech using the questions provided below:

Think of a difficult communication issue and a person with whom to have the discussion.

Think about listening with compassion.

Develop questions that will explore and engage others.

Ask questions unraveling any confusion and ultimately getting to the heart of the conflict.

Recent & Upcoming Lee Saffold, says:

The recent “Qi Retreat” in Pensacola, Florida conducted by Master Deru, the 31st generation descendent and a direct disciple of the late great Grand Master of the Shaolin temple, Suxi, was empowering as well as enlightening. Just to get away from regular daily work and focus entirely upon self-discovery and improvement was an experience that simply must be repeated by anyone interested in good physical, mental and spiritual health.

This retreat provided three primary benefits that I am convinced would be of great value to anyone seeking to live a quiet, peaceful, and productive life. (1) Learning the power of effective meditation. The value of silently turning your thoughts inward and detaching one’s self from any emotions, mental attachments or desires and simply “be” in the present tense with no past or future to regret or fear is a tremendous stress relief. (2) Understanding all of the various “energies” that are cultivated by a combination of physical movements of the body connected with controlled breathing and guided by the mind. These exercises, when done properly and regularly tend to improve one’s physical state while simultaneously developing the strength and capability of one’s mind. (3) Learning the ancient exercises of the Yi Jin Jing and Tai Gong along with some movements and martial applications of both Tai Chi Chuan and Shaolin Kung Fu from a master with a direct linage connection to the Shaolin Temple where they originated thousands of years ago and continue to be practiced today.

Through the expert teaching and guidance of Master Deru, it was abundantly clear that these ancient Chinese exercises of Shaolin Yi Jin Jing, Shaolin Tai Gong, and Tai Chi Chuan are effective to strengthen the entire human being, including body, mind and spirit. The exhilarating feeling of being completely relaxed, poised, confident as well as being physically and mentally refreshed after practicing these exercises for the greater part of three days was more than sufficient evidence to each participant that these exercises promise to be the very best means of maintaining a high degree of health for a lifetime. From Master Deru we learned how these exercises could help boost the immune system, improve oxygenation of the entire body, offer cardiovascular benefits, and improve blood circulation and respiratory function, relieve stress and increase one’s balance. I am convinced that all of these benefits will tend to prolong a quality life well into old age for persons who also maintain a healthy diet.

I highly recommend that everyone concerned with good health attend this Qi seminar with Master Deru at their earliest opportunity to learn these ancient methods of exercise with the intention to make them a daily practice. Harmony of mind and body with all that surrounds and affects us is the ultimate goal of those seeking peace and quality of life. This kind of knowledge is “like eating a peach”; the best way to understand the taste of a peach is to “eat one.” The best way to understand the benefits of these exercises tending toward a harmonious life is to do learn and practice them.

Sincerely,

E. In the end, it all comes down to each and every one of us to being responsible for our own health. Doctors, nurses, or pills are all tools to help guide us in the right path in our quest for health improvement, not a crutch to take with us for the full journey. The Qi Gong exercises helped me to re-center and refocus my energy.

As I watched the full moon rise over the ocean, I felt a sense of renewed energy and peace. It cannot be explained away with concrete words and definitions. But it does exist, nonetheless, in each and every one of us, and it is cultivated through our training in the Kung Fu discipline. Through the enlightenment of Chan, we become better balanced individuals by strengthening and tuning our body, mind, and spirit. This is hard work, and therefore it does not come easily. Initially, our training has a selfish focus, aiming to cultivate an inner sense of calm, strength, and balance. This goal to become a better individual eventually surpasses our own spirit and begins to enlighten our surrounding society. These are all necessary building blocks, because the intrinsic motivation to work hard and be patient must be present to carry us through this challenging journey. Satisfaction with our hard work, and the product of this work, becomes a way of life which produces healthy and happy Qi, which in turn connects to the quantum energy that flows throughout the earth between all men. Read Full »

Anisha Dyce
Integrity, humility, loyalty, and generosity are some of many character traits we should work on attaining in our journey through life. Read Full »

Chen Zhe
Lack of human spirit is sometimes seen as a disease of modern society. We are all so happy and relieved with the cooler fall weather!

It’s been a good and busy summer here on the Mobile campus. We had two demos, one at Bel Air Mall to celebrate the birthday of the Mobile Police Department’s mascot “McGruff” a big shaggy dog who “takes a bite out of crime.” We took advantage of the happening to have our own party for our student Belinda Munoz whose birthday is the same day as McGruff’s. She was very surprised over the unexpected cake and gift.

New students joining the Shaolin Family this quarter include: Lee Arron Klosterman, brother and sister Noah and Violet Monroe, Dad and daughters Will, Tori and Chloe Fernandez, sisters Jewel Carty and Zana Rae Hanson, brothers Nick and Noah Prophet, Thad Perry, James Lewis, Mark Dunaway and returning warrior Josh Beech. Welcome everyone!

Quarterly testing was held on September 30. We promoted 56 students to higher sashes and stripes. Their floor work was beautiful. Testing went very smoothly this quarter; to everyone’s surprise we were finished well before the scheduled time.

We are planning a Kung Fu Panda movie party for November for our kids and their friends. The standard fair of games, pizza and movie are on tap. We expect screams of delight when we bring out water balloons with teacher Da Shi Xiong as the target!

Speaking of Da Shi Xiong, we celebrated his 1st Anniversary here in the US and Mobile with a surprise party with cake and banners and lots of love and good wishes. Thank you Da Shi Xiong for all you do.

Annual Greater Gulf State’s Fair and The Mobile International Festival are fast approaching. We’ll be manning booths and giving demos and having our mascots parade at both. We’re hoping that we successfully bring home many VIP slips of potential new students.

We wish our LIU Family the Happiest Holiday Season!

Happy Holidays from Atlanta!!

The Atlanta family has been growing every week and we would like to welcome the following individuals to our family:

Sarah Adsit
Michael Adsit
Scott Schetler
Jessie Munoz
Ronald Eastman
Shannon Wahl
Abhinav Kshirsagar
Jui Kshirsagar
Laura Storm

Karina Leung
Kevin Leung
Sarah Taragittigul
Katya Begitova
Maddison Trinh
Ann Shieh
Osburn Arnold
John Arnold
Hongqi Arnold

These past few months have been extremely busy for Atlanta and we have participated in several demonstrations and are preparing our team for the Trip to Nashville!!

During the last two months we participated in a Chinatown Fall Festival and the Gateway International Festival!
